Our friend and executive council member, Jack McGinley, passed away on 25th November. Jack was on the IAIR council for over 20 years and made extensive contributions including inviting and organising speakers for the Countess Markievicz lectures, as recent as last year. He had spent his working life in Trinity and had a deep commitment to workers’ rights and was deeply involved with SIPTU and was former President of SIPTU’s Education Sector. He was also committed to the study of labour history through the Irish Labour History Society and Umiskin Press. Apart from all that, he was a genuine and lovely man who was a delight to talk to, full of stories, interests, and concern for others. He will be a loss to the IAIR and to the labour movement. Our condolences go to Jack’s wife Helen and friends..
