Dr Sindy Joyce, Lecturer in Traveller Studies, Department of Sociology, Jennifer Schweppe, Professor of Law, and Amanda Haynes, Professor of Sociology were awarded the Interdisciplinary Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Research Output Award at the recent President’s Research Excellence and Impact Awards.
The award was made with respect to the Irish Travellers’ Access to Justice Report, published in June 2022. The research explores the relationship between Travellers and criminal justice institutions. It was funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission and the Irish Research Council under the COALESCE programme (Collaborative Alliances for Societal Challenges). The authors continue to publish further outputs from the research, articulate the need for further outcomes, and measure its impact.
