Limerick City and County Council has engaged the University of Limerick to carry out research on cycling and its potential across the city. Ross Higgins, who lectures on the Civil Engineering programme, will lead this research which will involve the completion of number of projects aimed at understanding perceptions of cycling infrastructure, examining bicycle parking innovations and exploring the feasibility of micro-consolidation hubs for Limerick.

UL has hired a research assistant who will start on The Drive for More Cycling in Limerick shortly. Muhammad Huzaifa Butt is a sustainable energy transition and project management specialist. Most recently Muhammad worked as a research consultant for the Asian Institute of Technology SMARTS research centre, Thailand/Pakistan. His area of expertise includes but is not limited to, sustainable energy transition, mobility demand, technology innovation system, energy audit and energy demand modelling.

The Drive for More Cycling in Limerick, together with ISCycle, which is led by Dr. James Green, are projects that align with PAFH’s Active Sustainable Mobility research theme.
