Preparing for Academic Advancement Programme Funded through the (HEA) Gender Enhancement Fund
Commencing 23rd June 2021
UL, NUI Galway, and Maynooth University (Project Partners) were successful in securing funding to roll out a Pilot ‘Preparing for Academic Advancement’ (PAA) Programme. The aim of this sectoral modular Programme is to support Senior Lecturer level/Associate Professor level academic women to submit a successful application to Associate Professor level and in so doing support institutions in achieving the very ambitious HEA target of 40% representation of men and women at full professorial level by 2024.
The programme differentiates itself from existing offerings by prioritising delivery to those which the evidence indicates are most likely to be adversely impacted by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Another unique aspect of this programme is the provision of mentoring from senior accomplished academics who have agreed to give freely of their time to support participants over a 12-month period. Participants will be matched with mentors external to their own institution. One to one coaching and masterclasses will also form part of the programme which will run over a 4-month period from 23rd June – 28th September 2021.
