The 2024 Society for Name Studies in Britain and Ireland Spring Conference will take place from May 10-13 at the All Hallows Campus of Dublin City University. This is an international gathering and will feature delegates and speakers from universities across Ireland and Britain, Scandinavia, the Czech Republic and Germany.
The SNSBI was formed in the early 1960s as a high-level inter-disciplinary collaborative forum for scholars of the languages of Britain and Ireland. An annual conference has been held since 1969, with the conference coming to Ireland approximately every 5 years.
The full programme is available.
Aengus will also present an invited lecture on trees and woodland in Irish field names to 'Placenames Workshop 2024', which will precede the main conference. For more information, see Ceardlann Logainm 2024.
