This seminar will discuss ongoing directions at the Irish World Academy for activating dance archives through our partnership with Luail – Ireland’s National Dance Company. Referencing recent initiatives, such as the Modes of Capture Symposium (2019 to 2023) and the upcoming Activating Archive Residency, in partnership with the National Dance Archive of Ireland, the Irish Arts Center, New York and in association with Our Steps in New York, The Jerome Robbins Dance Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and Solas Nua, in Washington, D.C., the seminar will explore practices and process of capturing dancemaking and the preservation of dance within a 21st century context.
