In 2020, REPPP produced two reports for the Department of Justice regarding how the Covid-19 Pandemic and consequent Government public health measures had affected young people participating in Youth Diversion Projects (YDPs).
In two surveys, the first administered in April 2020 (n=113) and the second in May 2020 (n=108), Youth Justice Workers in 104 YDPs nationwide were asked questions about how they perceived young people they work with and the general population of young people in their YDP catchment area were being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and were coping with the health measures introduced from 12 March 2020.
The reports contributed to the understanding of how a sample of young people across Ireland responded to or coped with the public health measures precipitated by Covid-19, and how the specialist youth services consciously adapted to meet new and unforeseen challenges.
