The Research Evidence into Policy Programmes and Practice (REPPP) team attended the European Crime Prevention conference on "Effective Prevention of Organised Crime in the EU" in Tallinn, Estonia on the 17th and 18th of April. Professor Seán Redmond, Director of REPPP, convened a panel on the topic of "Tackling Youth Recruitment: a Cross-border Discussion", involving policy-makers and academics from the United Kingdom, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Professor Redmond spoke about the Greentown Programme in Ireland which seeks to respond to the complex problem of child involvement in criminal networks. Dr Catherine Naughton and Dr Jane Mulcahy from REPPP who are involved in monitoring and evaluating the Greentown Programme in the two trials sites had posters on display at the conference, availing of networking opportunities with international attendees to share learnings about the innovative, holistic approach of the Greentown Programme.
