Why did you choose to master your ambitions in Economics & Policy Analysis?
The masters in economics offers me the opportunity to extend my solid theoretical knowledge acquired during my BA in Bayreuth to elaborate my profile in respect to opening up a variety of professional and employment fields. A career in national or international organisations responsible for international economic policy or international fiscal management would be one of my goals. I am confident that the University of Limerick’s programme in economics is an excellent preparation and starting point for my professional life.
What did you choose the University of Limerick?
I applied for the Economics programme at the University of Limerick because I find the profile of the programme well-fitting to my interests and skills. In particular, the courses on International Macroeconomics, Public Finance & Advanced Macroeconomics interest me. This is due to my interest in the impacts of globalisation on growth and development. I am particularly interested in computer based macroeconomic modelling due to my interest in public finance and the impact of state investment on growth.
What has been the highlight of the programme so far?
I very much enjoyed the programs with Prof. Dr. Marta Zieba, who is an excellent econometrician and mathematician. She not only thought applied data analytics to me but was also a mentor to me during my master thesis. I was extremely fortunate to find an economics faculty that is extremely talented both with regard to students and research.
What benefit do you feel the programme will have on your career?
I believe a Masters in Economics and Policy Analysis is the right choice for someone hoping to enter the managerial and financial economy or a public servant. As such this master was very useful to achieve these goals for me.
Advice for future students on the programme?
It may seem overwhelming at first, but it is manageable, and you will succeed.
