Why did you choose to master your ambitions in International Management and Global Business (IMGB)?
I chose a master’s in International Management and Global Business (IMGB) because I knew I wanted to pursue a business degree that I could gear towards working in an MNC preferably abroad. I’ve always wanted to travel and have a career that pushed me beyond Ireland. Given both of those ambitions, IMGB really was the perfect course for me.
Why did you choose the University of Limerick?
I choose to come to UL as I wanted a student-first university that would support both my academic and professional goals. I knew I needed further education to enhance my skills and competitiveness in the labour market and UL with their reputation for graduate employability seemed like a perfect fit. That in conjunction with a beautiful campus in a vibrant young city pulled me towards UL.
What has been the highlight of the programme so far?
For me, the International Workshop in Prague was the highlight of the year. The chance to take what we have learned in the classroom and apply it in the real world was invaluable. Not only did it give me experience of what it felt like to be an external consultant in a company, but it allowed me to see a part of the world I had never been to and informed me as to what I wanted out of my future career.
What benefit do you feel the programme will have on your career?
I think this programme enhanced both my knowledge base and further refined my foundational skills which are both crucial for my ambitions going forward. The practical nature of this course meant that I came out of it confident that I had both the skills and knowledge to contribute right away to any role I pursued after my master’s.
Advice for future students on the programme?
See the relevance in what you are doing. Every assignment is a chance to experience a different area of a business you could one day pursue later in your career. Remember you get out of it what you put in.
