What is Orientation/Induction?

For programmes commencing in Spring each year, an Online Induction is run by your Faculty. This induction varies from programme to programme and happens during the 10-day window ahead of the start of your studies. 

Once you have completed your Admin Setup Tasks (you will be advised when to do this) you will have access to UL's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which is called Brightspace. At that point you will also have access to your new UL student email account. You are encouraged to log into BrightSpace in particular to familiarise yourself with the platform and wealth of supports associated with using it. 

Online Induction generally comprises of a suite of faculty-led online activities that will provide you with programme information and gives you exposure to the Brightspace platform. This will enable you to familiarise yourself with the platforms general layout, navigation, structure and underlying interaction mechanisms, without having to worry about academic performance during this period.

Your faculty will contact you directly regarding your Online Induction so please monitor BrightSpace and your student email account once set up.
