Brief Description

This module will investigate the increasing digitalisation of business processes, from design through to process execution. Process modelling will be introduced and the use of visualisation techniques in supporting process improvement will be established.

FUNDING

This course qualifies for 50% funding under the HCI Micro-Credential Course Learner Subsidy. Check fees section for details and eligibility.  Please Note:   Applicants may only apply for and receive, one subsidised course per semester.

This micro-credential represents a single module within a larger further award (e.g., Certificate, Diploma, Masters). By taking this micro-credential you may be eligible to apply for a credit exemption should you progress to study for a further award.

The module will establish a robust process for understanding the digitization requirements, paths to digitising the process and methods of process visualization and analysis using platforms like SAS JMP Pro Software. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) will also be considered with exposure to Software platforms such as Blue Prism.

 

Programme Content

The module will help to develop the knowledge and capabilities of any individual who wants to accelerate the use of digital technologies to drive their organization forward. These are highly valued skills and put the learner into a great position to help their business and their own career.

  • The journey of trust and enabling Digital Transformation
  • Process mapping: current & future states
  • Citizen developer vs third party expertise
  • Database fundamentals
  • Data sourcing, analysis & visualisation
  • Harnessing Process Data & filling the gaps
  • Digital Transformation - road mapping
  • RPA: tools & techniques
  • Creating the business case
  • Change management

On successful completion of the module students will be able to:

  • Apply methodologies for harnessing process data for digitisation.
  • Analyse the application of database technologies and data visualisation in a relevant. business context.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the need for business process digitisation.
  • Prepare a digitalisation roadmap and an associated business case.

Applicants should have a first or second-class Level 8 honours degree, or equivalent prior learning that is recognised by the University as meeting this requirement.

Successful completion of this module does not automatically qualify you for entry into a further award. All programme applicants must meet the entry requirements listed if applying for a further award.

The fees for this programme are €1,000
