Guest Speakers

Dr James Brown - James is a Lecturer in Cancer and Cell Biology in the Department of Biological Science (Faculty of Science and Engineering). His groups translational work focuses on validating the effectiveness of our small molecule lysine acetylation inhibitors (KATi) they developed for targeting (breast) cancer. We also focus on the discovery and validation new breast cancer biomarkers allowing improved patient stratification, and enriched understanding of tumour (and subtype specific) molecular diversity.

Dr. Orest Shardt is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering in the Bernal Institute and Department of Chemical Sciences. With a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical, dairy, mining, agriculture, and water treatment industries, Dr. Shardt’s research examines interfacial phemomena in multiphase flows. He also works on topics involving solid suspensions, liquid-liquid emulsions, sprays, jets, films, and bubbly flows.

Dr Robert Lynch is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics at UL, Course Director of the MSc Energy Science & Engineering, Adjunct Associate Professor of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio and the Lead Investigator in the Energy Storage and Semiconductor Technology Research Group at the Department of Physics and the Bernal Institute. Robert is dedicated to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to advancing education through research.
