University of Limerick Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) is delighted to announce the launch of a new double Master’s degree in Human Resource Management (HRM), created in partnership with Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M).

Designed for aspiring HR leaders in an increasingly globalised world, the master’s involves study for one semester at the triple accredited business school at University of Limerick, followed by a semester at UC3M Madrid, Spain. Upon completion of a summer semester thesis, students will earn two internationally recognised Master’s degrees from these institutions, equipping graduates with the skills and global perspective to thrive in a competitive job market.

Global Expertise and Cultural Immersion
The MSc in Human Resource Management (International) combines the academic excellence of two top-tier universities. UL’s MSc in HRM is one of the top HRM programmes in Ireland and is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD). UC3M’s Master in HRM was ranked #1 in Spain by El Mundo in 2024.

At UL, students will study at a worldwide top 1% business school and will be immersed in an institution driven by research and deep industry connections. At UC3M, students will benefit from a dynamic learning environment in one of Europe’s most exciting capital cities.

“HR professionals today need to think globally, and this double degree is designed to help students achieve just that,” said Dr. Caroline Murphy, Course Director of the MSc HRM at University of Limerick. “This partnership provides students with both the academic rigor and international experience they need to become strategic leaders in their field.”

A Curriculum Tailored to the Future of Work
The master’s degree is tailored to address emerging trends in HR, such as sustainable work, global people management, international management and the psychology of leading people and organisations. Graduates will develop the critical competencies required to lead transformational change, globalisation, sustainability, digitalisation and diversity and inclusion.

A Pathway to Global Careers
Graduates of the programme will be positioned to pursue careers in multinational corporations, consultancy firms, and public sector organisations. The double degree opens doors to roles such as HR business partner, talent manager, learning and development specialist and many others.

“This is an exciting step for both universities and our students,” said Dr Murphy. “The collaboration reflects our shared commitment to developing the next generation of HR leaders who can bridge cultures, solve complex challenges, and drive organizational success.”
