The Department of Psychology at University of Limerick (UL) is proud to announce the launch of its new MSc in Clinical and Community Psychology, an innovative master’s degree designed to equip psychology students with advanced knowledge and practical skills to address the psychological needs in clinical and community settings. This innovative master’s, commencing in September 2025, further strengthens UL’s reputation for excellence in psychology education and research. 

The MSc in Clinical and Community Psychology is a unique offering that integrates theoretical understanding, impactful research and applied skills. The programme emphasises evidence-based psychological practices related to digital mental health, psychotherapeutic skills, community psychology, and personal and professional development, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for future professional training and roles in healthcare, non-profit organisations and community and public services. 

Dr Aoife Whitson, Course Director, expressed excitement about the launch: 
“This MSc addresses the growing need for graduates who can apply psychological principles and evidence-based research directly to clinical and community settings. Designed at the intersection of clinical and community psychology, we are fostering a new generation of graduates who advocate for promoting health and wellbeing for everyone, everywhere.”

Students interested in the MSc in Clinical and Community Psychology will require an undergraduate honours degree with accreditation from the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or equivalent.  Applications will officially open in the coming weeks.
