PhD writers' week came back with a bang, and we were glad to accommodate these seven dedicated writers all week.
From refreshing chapters of theses to redrafting literature reviews, the range of work done in this week was wide. All of our PhD might have came in with different timelines and backgrounds but everyone truly shared one goal; write write write!
Our PhD writers haled from various cross-disciplinary fields, leading to a diverse range of context and structure for writing during the week. The writers gained and developed many writing skills and self discipline when it came down to it, and everyone's writing left a bit more advanced than when they began.
From 9am to 2pm our PhD writers buckled down and went about working towards their goals. It was truly inspiring seeing so many writers motivating one another through hard work and structure, and it was a beneficial week for all. Some feedback we received was that our PhD's only wished they had heard of it sooner.
Good fuel is essential to the driving of any successful machine, and we at the Writing Centre facilitated that in the form of delicious food and snacks all week. The PhD's thoroughly enjoyed our free tea and coffee during the week, and we made sure that there was always a fully stocked plate of biscuits close by! The Writers' received a free lunch Monday and Friday to start and end the week, which was much appreciated by these hard workers.
The writers main takeaway: make PhD Writers Week longer! The writers really understood the benefits to peer-motivated noise free writing, and as a result have formed a writers' group to continue on their respective writing journeys.
'It'd be wonderful to be able to keep going with that flow and continue developing my writing and fulling tasks" - From one of our PhD Writers.
