Maria received her PhD degree in 2023 from the Department of Physics at the University of Limerick under the supervision of Dr. Robert Lynch. Maria was interested in science from a young age, and studied Physics and Chemistry teaching for her Bachelor’s degree in UL. She quickly found that she had a particular passion for physics so she transitioned into doing an M.Sc in Applied Physics and followed this with a PhD in energy storage funded by SEAI. She has a strong interest in electrochemistry and renewable energy and believe that her research on these topics will help deliver a more environmental friendly and sustainable Ireland.
