Eoin is a fourth year PhD candidate with a focus on applying automation in the field of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) image analysis. More specifically, he is developing tools to aid in the detection and measurement of particles of interest in TEM images. He is using modern image analysis techniques such as Supervised Machine Learning and Deep Learning in his research. Outside of academia, Eoin enjoys playing the sport of hurling with his home club in County Kilkenny, and enjoys reading articles and books on a broad range of topics, but with a soft spot for 20th century history.
