Dear Student Volunteers,
As a student volunteer, you share your time, energy and commitment. You connect with your community. You make a difference. You change lives. But volunteering can also be a very powerful way of building your employability “toolkit”.
It gives you very practical, hands-on experience. It allows you to expand and test your skills in a new environment. It shapes your thinking and challenges your perspectives. It can also be helpful in making decisions about your career. In many ways, your volunteering responds directly to what employers are looking for in future graduates – passion, evidence of going the extra mile, willingness to contribute, capacity to connect and the ability to work in a collaborative way. So, see your volunteering as an important element of your future professional self. Make the experience part of your “employability story”.
Employers are waiting to hear it.
