Overview
In line with the KBS Strategic Plan, with the aim to ‘Embrace the Future. Transforming Education’, at the department of Accounting & Finance, we are increasingly integrating sustainability into our curricula, research and operations to prepare future leaders for global challenges. Some of the key sustainability initiatives of the Department of A&F include;
- CURRICULUM INTEGRATION: The syllabi of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes incorporate the legislative and compliance elements of Sustainability Reporting - i.e. for example the EU Taxonomy, the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation). Many of our Master of Science programmes (e.g. MSc. in Accounting, MSc. in Insurance & Risk Management, MSc. in Finance) incorporate a compulsory Corporate Sustainability module (SG6121), which explores the relationship between business and sustainability, encompassing environmental, economic, and social factors.
- EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING: Many of our postgraduate and undergraduate students get the opportunity to work on real-world sustainability projects, and get exposure to real-world scenarios through engagement with guest speakers and workshops on issues related to Sustainability.
- ACCREDITATION & COMMITMENTS: As a PRME champion business school, in our teaching we actively engage with issues of responsibility, sustainability and social justice.
- RESEARCH CENTRES: The research undertaken in our department incorporates many of the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with many of our Department Research Clusters (e.g. Accountability Research Cluster (ARC); Contemporary Research in Tax Cluster (CRITC); Centre for Emerging Risk Studies) focusing on research and knowledge transfer in sustainable business practices.
- GLOBAL COLLABORATIONS: Researchers in our department are actively engaged in global collaborations with, for example, EU Horizon projects engaging in research focused on issues of sustainability.
