Chris is the Director of the Transferable Skills Unit and an associate professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Limerick.  Prior to this he worked as a programme specialist at the Tipperary Institute / LIT, lecturing in the fields of social and community studies.  He has also worked in a variety of national and international development organisations including: the United Nations Development Programme in East Timor, where he managed projects on civic education and civil society; the Community Workers Co-operative, a national anti poverty network, and Trocaire, where he was a project officer for Southern Africa.  His main research interests lie in the areas of transferable skills, democratic participation and civil society, as well as the role of public administration in deepening democracy and promoting social justice.
