Date: Wednesday, 14 February 2024
Time: 11am - 3.30pm
Location: University of Limerick Campus, Living Bridge, and Irish World Academy

'House of Light' was the original description given to the Irish World Academy building by architect Daniel Cordier to describe his vision of a building that interacted with the world around it - the Shannon river, the Clare hills, and the Living Bridge - and encouraged creative collaboration and vision.

For many years, the Academy has curated a House of Light event in February, coinciding with the time of Imbolc in the Celtic calendar, and the return of light after the winter months.

On February 14th, 2024, the House of Light celebrations will mark the opening of a year-long series of events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

11am: Pop-up performances in the Foundation Building (Café Allegro), Kemmy Business School, Bernal/Analog Devices Building, and the Scholars Club.

12.45pm: Gather at the Living Bridge near the Millstream Common Room for the opening of the bridge procession.

1pm: Procession across the Living Bridge featuring Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre, African drumming ensemble, Irish traditional music, dance performance and much more.

1.30pm: Reception in the Irish World Academy Foyer.

1.45pm-3.30pm: ‘Duologues’. A duologue is an improvised, performance-based dialogue between two creative entities. The intention of the duologue is to explore artistic and interpersonal connection in the performative moment. Duologues will take place throughout the Academy building, with the audience free to move between performances.
