Why did you decide to enrol in the UL Language Centre’s Year-Round General English Program?
I decided on this programme because, although I have an academic background, entering a new education system in a new country brings certain difficulties, so I had to prepare myself for the professional master's process both in language and in academia.
How was the classroom environment? Did you feel encouraged to participate and interact with your classmates?
The classroom environment is definitely very professional and programmed completely focused on the academic process we will encounter in the future. For this reason, the classroom problems that students will encounter in the process after the course will be minimised. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in studies as much as possible.
How did the teachers support your learning? Can you share any examples of memorable interactions with your teachers?
Teachers are completely focused on the development of students both collectively and individually, and this is an opportunity that every student can benefit from. The teachers are interested in the development of the students and, in case of any problems, they give the students individual advice and the opportunity to work together. I found the weekly one-to-one meetings with the teachers very useful for me because I was able to see my shortcomings and concentrate on them. I would also like to point out that the teachers are very professional and friendly people.
How have your languages classes helped you prepare for your Masters at University of Limerick?
Before this course, I never felt academically ready for a master's degree, but as an ambitious and determined person, I wanted to achieve this. For this reason, I believe that I have advanced my English academically thanks to this programme and I strongly recommend foreign students to participate in this programme. This course does not only teach you an academic language.
Overall, the time I spent during this program was enjoyable because I was able to learn new things all the time during the program, but preparing for and delivering presentations was much more fun and enjoyable for me.
