Subhrajit Swain is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks (MSCA-DN) Fellow at the Multiphase Reactors and Process Intensification group. His current research project, CaviPRO DC5, focuses on harnessing hydrodynamic cavitation for anti-solvent crystallization. This prestigious opportunity is funded by the European Union's MSCA-DN fellowship. Part of Horizon Europe, the MSCA is the European Union’s flagship funding programme for Doctoral education. This research also involves planned secondments to the PSI Paul Scherrer Institut in Switzerland and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, along with short visits to Pfizer, Ireland, and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Subhrajit holds a Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of Hyderabad, where he achieved a commendable CGPA of 8.46. He completed his Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Chemistry from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, graduating First Class First with a Gold Medal and a CGPA of 9.41.
During his time at the University of Hyderabad, he completed his Master’s project under the supervision of Prof. Ashwini Nangia, Dean and Senior Professor at the School of Chemistry. His research, titled "Enhancing Drug Delivery of APIs through Multicomponent Cocrystals, Bile Salt-mediated Phase Transformation, and Induced Precipitation Delay Polymers," focused on improving drug delivery methods through pharmaceutical cocrystallization. This work resulted in two publishable outcomes, contributing valuable insights to the field of pharmaceutical sciences and crystal engineering.
Subhrajit has qualified for several prestigious examinations, including CSIR-JRF (AIR-89), CUET-PG (99.9 Percentile), GATE-2024, and IIT JAM-2022, demonstrating his strong academic foundation and expertise in chemistry. He has also held various leadership roles such as the Placement Coordinator at the University of Hyderabad. He has undertaken multiple internships, including one at the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology in Bhubaneswar and another at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore.
In addition to his scientific pursuits, Subhrajit is actively involved in various academic and extracurricular activities. He has presented his research at multiple conferences and workshops, earning several accolades such as the Best Poster Presentation at Chemfest-2024 and Oral Presentation at the SERB-funded High-end Workshop MAMTA-2023 organized by CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar.
Apart from his academic and research activities, Subhrajit enjoys contributing to science communication and education, aiming to make scientific knowledge more accessible to a broader audience. Additionally, he finds joy in singing and has a passion for playing table tennis and cricket.
