Update of the 2009 guidelines across all age groups with new guidelines for young babies and children included. 

Take into account new and even more compelling evidence confirming that regular physical activity has benefits for all people, for society and for the planet.

Recommendations for sedentary behaviour.

No minimum threshold for time active to be counted towards meeting guidelines.

Use hours and minutes rather than minutes to present how much physical activity is recommended across the age groups.

Population sub-groups covered by Guidelines

Children under 5 years of age

Children and adolescents (5 – 17 years)

Children and adolescents (aged 5 – 17 years) living with disability

Adults (18 – 64 years)

Adults (aged 18 years and older) living with disability

Older adults (age 65 years and older)

 

Note:  Guidelines for Pregnant & Post-Partum Women and for adults living with Chronic Disease will be developed over 2024-25
