The theme this year is “Positive Male Role Models”
We are delighted to invite all staff and students to celebrate International Men’s Day with us.
Join us for a fantastic talk at 1pm with our Keynote Speaker Dr David Coleman who will speak about "What boys need from their dads". This talk will be about how dads can physically, psychologically and emotionally engage with their sons to model healthy male behaviours and guide them into the future.
Dr David Coleman is a practicing Clinical Psychologist and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Psychology in UCD. He specialises in working with children, teenagers and their families. He is probably best known for the range of television programmes he has presented dealing with childhood struggles, teenage angst, and other aspects of family life.
We are also joined on the day by Maurice Lynch who will speak about his experiences as a male in the healthcare profession from 12.30 – 13:00.
Maurice currently works as a staff nurse within a surgical ward in the University Hospital Limerick. He graduated as a nurse in 2020 from the University of Limerick (UL) and completed his MSc in Nursing, again in UL, in 2023. He has an avid interest in person-centred care, therapeutic relationships and evidence-based practice in nursing. He is also a firm believer that nurses have the potential to make a significant positive impact in the lives of those who they look after.
