The Glucksman Library wishes all students the best of luck with their exams. Here is some useful information about the library at exam time.
Exam time opening hours
The library is open 7 days a week with extended hours in the lead up to the exams. Check the library website for further information.
Studying in the library
Library staff are there to help you through your exam preparation. If there is something you need, ask for help.
Use the library’s bookable group study rooms, silent, group or quiet spaces to study.
The library’s ‘Every seat counts’ system operates in the weeks up to and during exams. Desks left unattended for more than 45 minutes may be cleared for use by another student, so please take care with the duration of your breaks. Study spaces are at a premium at this time of year and it is important to give everyone a chance to find a space.
Tips for exam success
Focus on completing short study sessions rather than long sessions. Perhaps 30 minutes as a minimum and then take a short break.
Be realistic in your time management. Structure each day and make targets for yourself.
Get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of water and eat healthy to keep yourself alert.
Check past exam papers to get an idea of the structure and layout of your exams.
Do something fun every day and make sure you get plenty of exercise.
Check out the Library LibGuides to help you look for information.
Write down the location, time and duration of your exams.
REMEMBER: You cannot bring items such as bags, jackets, mobile phones, unauthorised electronic devices, calculator covers or pencil cases in to the exam centre.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. The UL Student Engagement & Success Unit is here to ensure you get the support you need.
