Shannon Free Airport Development Company Limited (Shannon Development) was established in 1959 to promote regional development for Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Offaly and parts of Kerry. The Shannon Development Archive consists of documents, press clippings and photographic negatives and prints which document the evolution of the agency, as well as the touristic, industrial and social development of the Mid-West region during the latter half of the twentieth century.

The collection was donated to the University of Limerick by Shannon Airport Authority in 2014.
