New archival catalogue to improve discoverability of UL archives

A new online archival catalogue, ArchivUL has been launched allowing greater discovery of the unique archival collections held in UL Library.  The material in these archival collections is a treasure trove for researchers exploring Ireland’s past.  The archives include original letters, diaries, papers and documents covering a broad variety of topics, from architecture and business to estate and family history in the Limerick and Munster region, Irish military history and rebellion. 

This is a significant step in the digital transformation of cultural heritage material. The new catalogue will enhance the research process making it easier to search the archives using keywords. Individual PDF catalogues have been replaced allowing researchers to browse and explore material across all archival collections. The catalogue is linked to UL's Digital Library, providing immediate online access to archival items that have been digitised.
