Declan McNamara, Chief Director of Nursing and Midwifery (CDONM) for UL Hospitals Group.
Declan has recently been appointed the Chief Director of Nursing and Midwifery for UL Hospitals Group Declan trained and spent 12 years working in the UK. He joined UHL in 2002 and has held a number of senior nursing management positions.
In 2017, he was appointed as Director of Nursing (DON) Peri-Operative Directorate and moved to his most recent post as DON in the Medicine Directorate in 2019. Declan was also the project lead for the opening of the new Emergency Department.
Declan holds a Diploma in Management with the Institute of Healthcare Management UK and an MSC in Healthcare Management with the RCSI and is currently undertaking a PhD in Professional Healthcare Practice at University Hospital Limerick.
As the ICDONM Declan’s key focus is on patient journey excellence, building a robust workforce, crossing the boundaries of integrated care and building on leadership and innovation through smart digital transformation.
In Declan's spare time he coaches a junior football team and enjoys running.
