Fionnuala Killoury is currently working as Assistant Director of Nursing in HSE Mid West. 

Fionnuala completed her undergraduate studies with the University of Dublin, Trinity College and registered with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland as an RPN in 2001. In 2006 she received an MSc Nursing from Trinity College. She also holds an MSc in Healthcare Management from the RCSI (2008). She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Health Science Education with Trinity College and registered as a Nurse Tutor with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland in 2010.  In 2020, Fionnuala completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Conflict Resolution and Mediation with NUIG/ St. Angela’s. She has a number of research publications and in 2024 she presented at the Horatio Congress in Malmo, Sweden. 

Fionnuala is currently undertaking a PhD in Nursing at Trinity College and her research aims to produce recommendations to inform the development of strategies to support the retention of graduate mental health nurses in the Irish mental health system. 

Fionnuala has over 20 years clinical nursing experience, including over 10 years as Assistant Director of Nursing in Dublin and the Mid West. She has worked in a range of acute and community settings throughout Ireland and Australia. In her current role, Fionnuala is leading out on and contributing to many service developments. Fionnuala is passionate about promoting wellness and recovery, working in partnership to improve outcomes, nurse education and recruitment and retention work.
