Congratulations on your acceptance to UL! As a mature student, we understand that coming to UL as an undergraduate is a great change in your life and we at the mature student office are here to support you from the very beginning of your journey at UL.
Below is some of the information you may find helpful as an incoming mature student and will inform you of events and information that will be available to you during the first few weeks and beyond.
We are so excited to meet you all and sincerely wish you the very best at UL.
Letters of Welcome
To our incoming students,
For many of you, your journey at UL began many months ago with applications, interviews, emails and deadlines. Some of you may already know the team here at the Mature Student Office, but we are looking forward to meeting you all and supporting you through your journey here at UL.
We are delighted to see you here at this next step and hope that you have taken the time to acknowledge and celebrate the work you have done to get to this stage. As a mature student, we want to emphasise how important you are to the University of Limerick. We hope that over the coming weeks you will feel more and more that not only do you belong here, but that the university benefits in having you here. Your experience and perspective will enrich the experience of the campus community as a whole.
The team looks forward to welcoming you warmly during orientation.
Best Wishes,
Shirley
A very warm welcome to the University of Limerick!
I am delighted that you are joining our student community and I hope that you will find your time here to be rewarding, enriching, and challenging in a positive way. As a mature student you are bringing with you unique experiences, perspectives and insights that will enhance your studies and your engagement with peers, lecturers and professional support staff in UL.
Your own learning and life experiences are a valuable contribution to the rich fabric of university life today. The true learning here is in the journey not in the destination so take it step by step, take time to breathe, and always reach out for support and advice when you need to. You will find many people in UL who will walk with you over the coming years as you progress with your studies, not least my colleagues in the Mature Student Office as well as in the wider Student Affairs Division. That is why we are here - to support you and to walk this journey with you.
Go n-éirí libh go léir.
Rhona McCormack
Director of Student Affairs Division
I would like to extend my warmest welcome to our mature students as you join us for this new and exciting phase of your life! In my many roles at UL, such as Lecturer, Course Director, Director of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and now as Dean of the Faculty, I have been privileged to work with many mature students at different stages of their lives.
The level of experience and expertise you bring to our campus is so valuable and I believe that you will find that this is greatly appreciated by your fellow students as well as by the staff members you will be working with. Above all, I hope that your time at UL will be rewarding, challenging, productive and worthwhile.
Céad míle fáilte roimh go léir!
Sandra

Mature Student Welcome Programme
This Welcome Programme is held in addition to your course/ faculty orientation programmes. We ask that you choose the session that does not conflict with your course/faculty orientation. The Mature Student Orientation is available to all incoming mature undergraduates. We encourage you to come to meet the mature student office team and also get to know some of your fellow mature students.
Two sessions (one morning and one afternoon) will be held on Thursday 5 September. The survey below will be used to plan materials for the session. Please select the session you hope to attend. Students can change their session if needed by reaching out to maturestudentoffice@ul.ie.
Take the survey to let us know which sessions you'll be attending
If you did not apply as a mature student to UL but are still over 23 on January 1 of this year, we welcome you along to the mature student orientation.
We ask that you reach out to maturestudentoffice@ul.ie if you are not receiving emails or updates from us so we can add you to our mailing lists.

We encourage you to be as forthcoming as you are comfortable with when filling in the survey. Your answers are completely anonymous and may impact future resources such as student supports for disabilities and lone parents.
