The Arts Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS) Committee on Access, Retention and Engagement (CARE) was set up in 2024 to address issues of student retention and widen the participation of students identified in the National Access Plan 2022-2028

 

The Committee consists of 3 sub groups:

  1. Student Retention subgroup, which is working on the implementation of the AHSS retention action plan developed in 2024.
  2. Widening Student Participation subgroup, which is working on identifying and addressing barriers  that different student groups might experience with regard to accessing higher education.
  3. Inclusive Practice group, which is developing policy and practice on inclusive teaching for the Faculty of AHSS.

 

Membership:

Each Department/ School/ Unit is represented by at least one member (nominated by Head of Department/ School). The Committee will strive for membership that is representative of the Faculty community in terms of gender, ethnicity, minority group representation, staff grades etc.
