The next AHSS PhD Development Session is on The Future of Open Access Publishing: Challenges and Opportunities. This seminar will take place on Wednesday, 19 February 2025 at 10.30am in the Kate O’Brien Room (C1-079). The room is located in the Main Building on the C corridor. Our speaker, Ashling Hayes, Head of Research Library Services will speak on the topic, The Future of Open Access Publishing: Opportunities and Challenges Description: In this talk, we will explore the evolving landscape of open access publishing and its impact on the academic community. We will discuss the benefits of open access, including increased visibility and accessibility of research, as well as the challenges faced by researchers and institutions. Key topics will include the different models of open access, funding mechanisms, and the role of open access in promoting equity and innovation in research. Additionally, we will delve into the significance of open access for theses and dissertations, highlighting how it can enhance the dissemination and impact of graduate research.
