Continuation is an exhibition bringing together new work by nine Limerick based artists who have formed connections through their practices over the course of two decades. The exhibition aims to honour Limerick’s history of group shows, from Sean Keating’s exhibitions in the 1930’s spanning through generations of Limerick painters who trained at Limerick School of Art and Design.

Continuation celebrates the work of established Limerick artists alongside emerging talent. Collectively the group demonstrate the great breadth and variety of stylistic approaches to contemporary Irish painting. The works on show have been realised through a period of great uncertainty and reflect the experience of creativity in a time of pandemic. This reminds us that despite the most difficult of circumstances, even without an audience; artists are compelled to continue.  The work shows traces of the reality of the age that we live in, and the enormous upheaval of our times.  Viewing these dynamic pieces will leave you with a feeling of paintings' continual relevance and reinvention in these times of great upheaval.
