Presenter: Dr Kathleen Turner

In this interactive seminar, Kathleen Turner will tackle the subject of ‘reflexive practice’. The term is used in many areas of our work as artists and academics – however, there is often confusion around what it means, how it works in practice and why it is relevant.

As a community musician, songwriter, facilitator and researcher, Kathleen uses reflexive practice tools in her everyday work. She proposes that reflexivity can provide a solid framework for critically engaging with our roles, by slowing down, noticing, considering and making informed decisions. During the session, we will break reflexive practice down into simple steps by exploring definitions informed by literature, relating it to our practices, and exploring useful strategies we can employ in our regular working day..
