Performers: Siobhán Peoples and Michael ‘Blackie’ O’Connell

Siobhán Peoples (fiddle) and Michael ‘Blackie’ O’Connell (pipes) are two of the most well-known and inspirational musicians in the mid-west. Their high-octane and precise musical styles are celebrated by audiences near and far and they are cornerstones of the Ennis traditional music scene. Both are also synonymous with the Irish World Academy where they have given many years of service as tutors. Siobhán and Blackie carry local and inherited tradition in their music, yet have very much forged their own voices as solo performers and with a range of ensembles. In 2023, Siobhán was awarded the MÓRglór award for her service to the local music community in Ennis.
