Performers: MA Classical Strings students, guest conservatoire students and ICO principals
The Irish Chamber Orchestra Academy Project, directed by Diane Daly, brings together an eclectic mix of classical musicians from around the world – the current cohort of exceptionally talented students on the MA in Classical String Performance, specially selected guests from other conservatoires and principals of the Irish Chamber Orchestra. This concert programme features the 3rd of Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dance Suite (1932), and Bartok’s vibrant colourful Divertimento for Strings (1939). In keeping with the ethos of the ICO Academy projects, the performance will focus on enhancing the performance experience for both performers and audience. This project is part of the MA programme in Classical String Performance and is funded by the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick. Diane Daly has been a member of the Irish Chamber Orchestra since 1998 and has toured the world with many prestigious ensembles including the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. In other genres she has performed alongside and recorded with Sir Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, The Corrs, Bono, Shania Twain, Katie Melua and plays in her own gypsy jazz trio. She was the recipient of an IRC scholarship, completing her PhD in 2019. She is Course Director of the MA in Classical String Performance in the Academy where she teaches violin, Creative Embodied String Performance, Dalcroze, Kodaly and improvisation.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
