Irish citizens are being asked to use their voice through their vote on two separate proposed amendments to the current text of Article 41 of the Constitution in the upcoming referendums on 8 March 2024 on care and the family.
The University of Limerick is hosting an event to provide you with factual information on these issues. The session will be chaired by retired Chief Justice Frank Clarke. Our speakers are Dr Laura Cahillane, Associate Professor in the School of Law and expert in constitutional law, and Dr Carmel Hannan, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, an expert in Irish family dynamics and child development.
The University of Limerick Law Society will also breakdown the voting process and will explain how to register to vote. There will be a Q&A session where attendees will have an opportunity to ask further questions. This event is open to all. It is our responsibility to be informed and engaged in the shaping of the future of our political, social and legal landscape.
The event is a great opportunity to expand, or initiate, your understanding through discussion with established academics and to inform yourself. The event will begin at 6.30pm at the Computer Science Building and finger food will be available on a first-come first-served basis.
