Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam speaks on public history and archives for learning and education.

On 10 June 2024, Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam (History) was an invited speaker at an event on the communication of archives as public history, hosted by The Archives for Learning and Education Section (ALES) of the Archives and Records Association UK & Ireland. ALES provides skills training and shares useful tools, resources and examples of good practice with its members to help them deliver innovative and effective user learning experiences.

Karols' presentation, titled ‘Complicating the past: public history in Ireland', presented an overview of public history in Ireland, highlighting some of the current issues and trends in the Republic as well as the roles of collections and archives.
