GOI Postdoctoral Success for Irish World Academy UL Graduate

  UL Graduate Dr. Hala Jaber has been awarded a prestigious GOI postdoctoral research scholarship:  https://research.ie/2021/10/06/minister-simon-harris-announces-e28m-in-irish-research-council-funding-to-support-the-next-generation-of-top-researchers/   Dr. Hala Jaber is a Palestinian community musician. She obtained her PhD at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Helen Phelan and Dr. Hilary Moss. She is also a graduate of the MA community music programme. Her PhD research examined community music approaches and best practice when working in the context of post-conflict migration. Recent publications include ‘Navigating the borderline: An exploration of emerging borders inside the community-music workshop’, in My Body was Left on the Street: Music Education and Displacement, edited by K.T. Vu. and A. Quadros (2020) and ‘’We are all facing the same problem’: Lived experiences of online participation in the Irish World Music Café community music initiative in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic’, with F Garry and H Phelan, International Journal of Community Music, 14:2 (2021).   Dr. Jaber's postdoctoral project is called "Music on the Move: Music as a Tool of Social Inclusion in the Context of Post-Conflict Migration" and will form part of the work of the PART-IM (Participatory and Arts-Based Methods Involving Migrants in Health Research) research cluster led by Prof Helen Phelan and supported by the Health Research Institute.
