The SlowMo Experience took place the week of the 14th of November at the Irish World Academy with student of the BA Contemporary Dance and MA Contemporary Dance Performance programmes. This included a lecture, choreographic workshop, and performance.
SlowMo is a choreographic concept by Instant Dissidence: a work which is re-created every time that it is performed. Instant Dissidence is an Ireland-based company directed by Rita Marcalo. It is her way of bringing different artists together, in different combinations, to realise different ideas: through Instant Dissidence Rita invents ways of offering other people art experiences and solve creative problems. Instant Dissidence is also a socially-engaged and ecologically-engaged company: they foreground the role that dance/choreography can play as a social engine; we are ‘artivists’ who believe in the power of connecting art and social consciousness.
The third Sustainable Alliance Against Anti-Muslim Hatred research ‘pop-up’ at the Laois Network conference in Portlaoise took place recently.
