'Public History in European Historical Perspectives' Conference in Luxembourg

Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam participated in the international 'Public History in European Historical Perspectives' Conference on the long history of public historical practices in Europe, held at the University of Luxembourg, 14-15 September. The conference featured a wide range of case studies demonstrating the breadth of the field and the long-standing history of what later developed as 'public history'. Karol's paper considered the Bureau of Military History (a project run by the Irish state from 1947 to 1957 to collect oral testimonies and documents of the Irish revolution) as a historical 'public history' project. Conference participants also took part in a collaborative workshop to prepare the publication of an edited volume on the history of public history in Europe with De Guryter.
