Jess Beeley, and her group who she worked with outside a house in Norway on a sunny day
Thursday, 27 June 2024

AHSS Educational Technologist Jess Beeley took part in a Staff Mobility Week on Universal Design of the Learning Environment at University of Bergen, Norway on June 17th-21st 2024.

Universal design focuses on making everything that surrounds us (products, environment, IT-solutions/programs and services) accessible to everybody, and it is linked with Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Participants from Germany, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Greece, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Hungary collaborated in a programme discussing good practice and common issues in Universal Design, as well as learning more about UDL activities at the University of Bergen.

Jess presented on her work in UDL and Inclusive Teaching at University of Limerick and in AHSS in particular. Activities in the week also included a trip to the Fosse foundation at Strandebarm, home of the Nobel Prize in Literature 2023 winner Jon Fosse. The group also learned about sustainability in Norway, as well as Norwegian culture and the history of Bergen.

Thanks to Erasmus Staff Mobility Fund for funding this trip.
