Over the last 50 years, Cooperative Education at University of Limerick has partnered with thousands of organisations across the world to provide our students with the opportunity to put their academic learning into practice in the workplace. These partnerships are an essential part to the co-op programme and without our dedicated partner employers we would not be able to provide the largest work placement programme in Europe.

We are continually grateful to our partners for providing students with meaningful and transformative experiences and for providing us with feedback on the programme to ensure that it continues to grow and improve over the next 50 years.

Many thanks to Aoife O’Shaughnessy, Marketing Officer at Limerick City and County Council for sharing her experience of co-op at UL.

I’ve been delighted to work with the University of Limerick as part of the Limerick City and County Council Co-op Programme over the last couple of years. The Department of Marketing and Communications is a fast-paced and complex workplace, where team members often have to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. The calibre of co-op students, we have received to date, have proven themselves to be more than capable of rising to the challenges of this particular environment. I have found our UL students to be creative, collaborative and hard-working.

Our team is committed to providing a supportive and engaging work experience and ensuring that our co-op students have the opportunity to bridge the gap between what they learn in the lecture hall and what they do in their careers. We strive to afford students the opportunity to develop their skills, gain practical experience, and contribute meaningfully to our projects from concept stage through to delivery. Their fresh perspectives and innovative ideas have positively impacted our department, and we look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership with the University of Limerick.
