Universal Design and Inclusive Practice
Universal Design (UD) in higher education is about making the entire educational experience more inclusive for students, parents, staff, instructors, faculty, and visitors with diverse characteristics, including gender, race, ethnicity, age, stature, or disability.
Inclusive practice embeds inclusivity in our day-to-day practices, policies, and procedures so everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
ALTITUDE charter on Universal Design in Tertiary Education and the Unlocking Inclusion Toolkit for Universal Design in Higher Education provides a more inclusive culture and an environment in which all UL community members can thrive.
Inclusive recruitment
UL aims to ensure that people with disabilities have equality of opportunity by having full access to employment, training, promotion and career development within the University.
The University has a clearly stated policy on all recruitment advertisements (https://www.ul.ie/vacancies) welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
