Prof. Michael Walsh
Michael’s research activity focuses on an improved understanding of the host response to the treatment of vascular diseases. His primary area of research is focused on vascular disease properties and how such properties can be leveraged for improved medical device design.
Michael’s former post-doctoral researchers are all working in Irish industry as are 13 of 20 PhD graduates. Five other PhD graduates are all pursuing academic careers at institutions such as Georgia Institute of Technology, Edinburgh University, University of Pittsburgh, Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam and the University of Limerick. He has published 74 peer-reviewed journal papers and 8 book chapters. He has 4 granted patents, 2 in review and a spin-out company, Class Medical, established in 2014.
Michael Lucey, Purdy Lucey
Michael has over 20 years’ experience working as a Patent Attorney and is a co-founder of PurdyLucey.
Michael specialises in the drafting and prosecution of patents in the fields of electronics, software, power converters, telecommunications, optoelectronics, imaging systems and medical devices. He has acted for large, well known, High Tech US multinational corporations and world leading University Institutions before the European Patent Office (EPO).
Michael lectures on Intellectual Property for local Irish Universities and is a member of EPI, Irish Patents Law Committee, and the IEEE. Michael is also a UK Chartered Patent Attorney, an Irish Registered Patent Agent, an Irish Registered and Community Trade Mark and Design Attorney; a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and holds an Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate awarded by IPReg.
