Course Overview
Records should be retained for as long as required to meet the legal, administrative, financial and operational requirements of the University, as recommended by the UL Records Management & Retention Policy (see www.ul.ie/recordsmanagement), after which they must be either destroyed or filed / archived appropriately.
Good records management practices assist the University in complying with relevant legislation including GDPR / Data Protection legislation.
This two-hour course is highly recommended for all staff who are responsible for management of records within their division/department/unit and will include the following.
- Creating, storing and using records
- Classification – organising our records
- Retention – how to decide what to keep
- Electronic records and e-mail
