Research Career Paths: "Research Careers in Industry" with Dr. Hilda Mulvihill, Stryker (1pm - 1.30pm)Hilda is currently a Senior R&D Manager in the Advanced Technology team based at Stryker Orthopaedics in Limerick. Stryker employs over 2,200 people in Ireland at five sites between Cork and Limerick, including over 150 engineers, scientists and support staff in research and development.Hilda is responsible for developing materials-based technology roadmaps aligned with the Joint Reconstruction business needs in partnership with the Product Development and Commercial teams. She is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and assessing academic institutes and companies that have novel technologies that can provide potential solutions. Hilda also provides oversight to multiple research and project teams in the pursuit of next-generation materials and processes that fit within the Stryker strategic initiatives. After graduation in 2000, Hilda joined Medtronic Cardiovascular as an R&D Engineer and was involved in the development of the first drug-eluting stent technology, from first prototyping to “First in Man” human clinical trials.In May 2017, she was part of a winning team in the American Chamber/RIA Innovation Awards for a Stryker/University of Limerick research collaboration.Hilda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from UCC, an MSc in Advanced Materials, a PhD in Biomaterials and an MBA from the University of Limerick. She is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor of Biomaterials at the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, University College Dublin, Ireland.
EURAXESS Ireland information session - what can EURAXESS do for you? with Ms. Jennifer Cleary, Head of EURAXESS Ireland (1.30pm - 2pm)
Jennifer Cleary manages the EURAXESS Ireland office and the Euraxess.ie portal, which was set up in 2004 in the Irish Universities Association. She represents Ireland on the EURAXESS Services Network, which has over 200 centers across 40 countries and is involved in a number of European Commission initiatives and projects focusing on human resources and mobility issues for researchers. Jennifer is also the HR Manager at the IUA and collaborates with the HR Directors in each of the seven universities.

Jennifer Cleary, Head of EURAXESS Ireland will showcase the job and funding opportunities database within the EURAXESS Ireland/ EURAXESS Services network across Europe. The presentation is suitable for researchers, Research Managers, PI's, HR and research personnel and will include:

• Services provided by the EURAXESS Ireland office and European network of over 200 centers across 40 countries with an overview of information and personalised assistance via EURAXESS services.
• An overview of the www.euraxess.ie  portal - a key information portal for researchers wishing to work or carry out research in Ireland. It is also a great resource for HEI's hiring researchers or teams looking for research talent and expertise via the CV profiles and partnering search functions.
