Whilst there are five key thematic areas: Esports Science, Rugby Science, Athletics Science, Weight Category Sport Science and Endurance Sports Science, research currently being conducted by SPRC members continues to evolve across a number of disciplines including:
- Sports Physiology
- Sports Psychology
- Sports Performance
- Strength & Conditioning
- Exercise and Rehabilitation
- Sports Biomechanics
- Sports Data Analytics
- Motor Learning & Motor Control
- Performance Nutrition
- Sports Engineering
- Sports Coaching
- Sports Medicine
Aligned with these disciplines, SHPRC members continue to conduct individual research across a range of emerging areas or themes (e.g. sleep science, golf science). A key strategic goal of the centre in the short, medium and long term is to grow the centre membership as well as strengthening and broadening the research scope going forward. Membership growth will further develop critical mass across the current research themes as well as drive the development of new themes and programmes of research going forward.
